Turlough Conefrey Football Tournament
A large crowd turned out on Sunday last, March 28th 2010 for the Turlough
Conefrey tournament in glorious sunshine in Aughavas. Under 12 teams from
Aughavas, Carrigallen, Cloone & Gortletteragh took part. Aughavas played Cloone
& Carrigallen played Gortletteragh with the winners Carrigallen & Aughavas
playing in the final which Carrigallen won. A big thank you for all the clubs &
there mentors coming on the day and made it such an enjoyable event, Thanks to
the referees Gerry Gallogly & Sean McCartin who kept proceedings going smoothly,
To all the ladies in the kitchen making tea and sandwiches and to all the people
who brought sandwiches and to Mark & Paula Brooks who sponsored the drinks and
crisps for all the players after the game and to the officers of Coiste Na nOg
for collecting the gate and for all the people who stayed on afterwards to clean
up and to Colm Moran who did the M.C. and welcomed everyone to the park and to
Terry Williams for the photos which will be up on the website later, John &
Caroline & family who sponsored & presented the medals to all the players who
played and presented the Shield trophy to the Carrigallen captain Ronan O Neill.
We will be hoping that this will be an annual event in memory of a great young
lad Turlough. It was nice to see a great crowd from all the parishes and other
clubs as well and a large amount of money was collected All proceeds going
towards Childrens ward, Cavan General Hospital
