Aughavas Parish, Co. Leitrim

The Parish of Aughavas takes its name from the townland of Aughavas, because it was here the church was situated when the district became an independent Roman Catholic parish, some time during the period from 1750 to1800.
Aughavas: Achadh Easa, means the terrain of the waterfall.
Highest Point: Leganomer ( Lug an Umair, the hollow of the trough or trough-like depression ) at 190m (625Feet).
